Got a group together for a camping trip up the Comeraghs. Proper steep hike with full packs. Tents, sleeping bags, food and water!.
The climb was brutal. Like properly steep in places. But the views kept you going. Rolling hills, streams, that classic Irish mountain vibe. Everyone was in good form, chatting the whole way up.
The Weather Turned
Once we got to the top and set up camp, the weather decided to join us. Mist rolled in thick. Proper thick. We were basically camping in a cloud.
Someone made a joke about having "bog brain" from being up there too long. It stuck. We ran with it.
But honestly? It was ok. The mist wasn't heavy rain or anything, just that soft cloudy stuff where you can't see much past your tent. We cooked food, and had a few laughs, and it was actually quite nice. Felt like we were in our own little world up there.
We'd brought enough gear and water so we were set. Set up the tents properly, stayed dry, got a fire going for a bit before it got too damp.
The Morning
Woke up the next morning and the weather had completely flipped. Clear sky. Unreal views. The kind of morning that makes you glad you bothered dragging all that gear up a mountain.
We made breakfast, packed up, and headed back down. Legs were knackered but it was worth it.
Learned a few things about what to bring next time, but overall? Class trip. Would do it again.
